A guide to the performance of seven increasingly eventful years at a particular school of magic.
The Marlboro High School Theater Society incredibly performed a play by Matt Cox—Puffs. Anthony Greco, the talented director, and the large cast executed this comedic work with pure enjoyment. According to Greco, the spectacular aspect of performing comedy is that every time it is demonstrated on stage, each audience has different reactions and emotions to different scenes in the play, making each performance new and unique for the actors on stage. The jokes in this particular play have a wide range, from the jokes that only fans of the Harry Potter series may comprehend to the simple or relatable moments that connect to a wider audience’s humor; anyone would be sure to chuckle at least once.
Puffs is a story about a trio placed into a house often looked down upon for their unique quirks and hobbies. Both Wayne and Oliver are foreign to the idea of magic and try their best to assimilate; simultaneously, Megan craves to stand out and make it known to everyone that she doesn’t belong in such a ridiculously lame group as the Puffs. The audience follows the adventures of the trio and the bumps they encounter along the way. Constantly, Harry manages to steal the spotlight from the Puffs, whether it be Wayne’s opportunity to be seen as a hero or Cedric winning the Three Wizard Tournament.. Not to worry, even unrecognized heroes must realize that they are excellent heroes of their own story.
If one sadly could not attend the play and immerse themselves in this astonishing world, it is not too late to join or experience the Marlboro High School Theater Society. In January, auditions for the spring play of Mean Girls will be taking place, so be sure to follow the MHS theater Instagram. If an individual is inspired by theater and is willing to become a part of the ensemble, they definitely shouldn’t resist.
