Marlboro Marching Mustangs Take the Field
October 14, 2015
The Marlboro High School music department is very popular throughout the MHS community and boasts many talented and dedicated individuals. Specifically, the marching band has spent hours upon hours both inside and outside of the school day and during the summer and school year to perfect their performance.
The MHS marching band can be seen numerous times throughout the year starting with every Mustang football game. They perform their halftime show that, this year, is a tribute called “50 Years of The Who.” They perform using very intricate positioning along with the MHS Dance Team. It is clear how much time and practice went into the performance.
On Tuesday, October 13th, the MHS marching band performed at the annual district band festival that was hosted this year by Manalapan High School. Despite the rain, it was a very fun event for all as every school was able to showcase its talents on the field with music of many different styles.
The MHS marching band has a very strong leadership team that helps to make the band what it is. The advisor is Mr. Dalton with the assistance of Ms. Reich, and the drum major is Moriah Kam with junior drum major, Brian Moon. The Section leaders are Evan Choy for the brass instruments, Jolie Wang for the woodwinds, and Kevin Mackler for the drumline. There are also several assistant section leaders who are Nicole Chen for the flutes, Patrick Murray for the clarinets, Nicole King for the saxophones, Zach Grun for the trumpets, Shaun Lederman for the mellophones, Evan Cooperstein for the trombones, Chris Au for the tubas, Aiden Moyer for the bass drums, and Samantha Resnick for the snare and quad drums.
Overall, this year has been an amazing success for the Marlboro High School Marching band. They have a concert on Wednesday, October 28th that is sure to be amazing!
