“Eternals” Movie Review
November 16, 2021
Plot:
My brother and I went to see Eternals in theaters, which was a great experience given what’s happened over the last 20 months, and the final product was not exactly what I thought it would be. Eternals is a Marvel Cinematic Movie (MCU) that tells the story of immortal superheroes that are created by an ancient god who protects the world and its citizens from ancient counterparts called the Deviants. However, when there is an even bigger crisis, the Eternals work together to stop it even when they are told not to by the one who created them.
Cons:
The main problem I have with this movie would be the characters. While some movies benefit from having a large cast of characters, this movie does not because it did not devote enough time to flesh out each of them. While some of them are likable, most of them just seemed annoying and their actions unnecessary. The film also suffered from an overly long running-time of 2 hours and 36 minutes.
Pros:
The movie did have it’s moments from time to time. The CGI (Computer Generated Images) and special effects were phenomenal, as usual with every Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. I was also very intrigued by the film’s direction, which is a big surprise because the lady who directed it also directed “Nomadland,” an incredibly boring movie with no conflict or plot what-so-ever. Some scenes were pretty decent and heartfelt and the cast members really gave it their all with their performances as the Eternals.
Overall, I would give this movie a 5.5/10. I wouldn’t call it terrible, but compared to other Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, they definitely could have done better.
