Star Wars: the Last Jedi

Written and directed by Rian Johnson, Star Wars: the Last Jedi is a 2017 new release that is under the genre, “epic space opera.” That description is very accurate, seeing as that this movie takes the view on an epic journey. This movie is the last movie is the second film in the Star Wars sequel and stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, and Gwendoline Christie in returning roles. Kelly Marie Tran, Laura Dern, and Benicio del Toro join the cast as new members.
The plot begins as Resistance fighters led by General Leia Organa evacuate their base when a First Order fleet arrives. The rest of the movie continues in an action-packed tale loved by even those who are not necessarily star Wars fans. Audience members have raved about twists and turns of the plot with drama a blurred line between good and evil. Rotten tomato has graded this movie at a 93% for all critics. Other critics criticize its 152 minute run time saying that there needed to be edits made to keep the plot engaging.
Only you will be able to make the judgement of how Star Wars: the Last Jedi measures up to its predecessor, Star Wars: the Force Awakens. It is action packed and entertaining, but may be a little too long to maintain the enthusiasm of the audience for over two hours.
