Wonder Woman premiered in theaters June 2nd, 2017 and quickly became the most raved about movie of the summer. Before becoming Wonder Woman, she was a Princess of the Amazons named Diana who was raised training to be a warrior. Her and the other Amazons had a duty to fight Ares, the God of War who according to legend was going to start a war that rid the earth of mankind if he rose again. One day, a pilot from World War II named Steve crash landed on the Amazonian island and was forced to tell the Amazons about the war. Diana believed it was Ares and she was determined to defeat him. With her newfound powers and Steve, she ventured into the world to defeat Ares and stop the war. Gal Gadot played the role of Wonder Woman flawlessly, and even did her own stunts even while she was pregnant.

This movie is an inspiration to girls everywhere, many of which are children seeing a female superhero for the first time. Twitter exploded with positive comments of the movie before it even came out, expressing their love for DC and finally having another female superhero movie. The last one to come out in theatres was Elektra in 2005, which only got 10% on Rotten Tomatoes and earned $24 million in the box office.
