Raiders on the Move
April 6, 2017
Last week the Oakland Raiders announced that they would be going to Las Vegas, Nevada to play football there. The move will take place in 2019, meaning that the Raiders will play their next and final 2 seasons in Oakland.
In the NFL Owners meeting, the decision to move the Raiders to Las Vegas was proposed.
Ultimately the NFL owners suggested that this would be the best move for the Raiders franchise at this time.
The Raiders players appear to have mixed feelings on the relocation. Raiders quarterback Derek Carr said “As I sit here and see a vote that takes the Raiders to Las Vegas, I am overwhelmed by emotion. I don’t know how we should feel. I feel the pain of our fans in Oakland. I also see the joy of our new fans in Las Vegas.” (According to Derek Carr’s Twitter). These comments depict mixed emotions for this Raiders team.
The Raiders will have two more seasons to win a title for the city of Oakland. Last season, the Raiders lost in the first round of the playoffs against the Houston Texans. This season, the Raiders have more motivation and their franchise quarterback to win for the city of Oakland and the Raiders franchise.
