Teacher Spotlight: Mr. Son

Jen Geller

Mr. Son is a very passionate and dedicated teacher at Marlboro High School. This is his eighth year teaching physics and he continues to help students strive for success every single day. It is clear that Mr. Son loves to teach and this helps to inspire his students.

Mr. Son graduated from Rutgers University and at the same time was a rock climbing instructor, because he was not interested in entering the corporate world. After parents of the students he was teaching rock climbing to continued to ask if he was a teacher due to his patience and good communication skills, he decided he would give it a try. Mr. Son loves physics for many reasons. One reason is that the subject matter just made sense to him. Also, he was always very curious how different things worked. Mr. Son loves science, but particularly loves physics as a specialty making teaching high school students just the right fit for him.

As a teacher, Mr. Son has great advice to share with students. He said “Always try to make yourself better. Never be too complacent.” He also says how life is full of hardships and what matters most is how those hardships are dealt with.

Mr. Son captures the attention of all of his students and truly makes physics come to life in the classroom. Mr. Son looks forward to sharing his passion for science with students for many years to come.
