College Football Playoff Championship- Final Results

After the completion of the first round, the College Football Final is played. In the first round, Clemson defeated Oklahoma in a lopsided affair 37-17. Alabama dominated Michigan State in the first round 38-0. After these results, the College Football Championship would be between Alabama and Clemson.
Alabama has won 4 championships in the last seven years and continued their success on Monday night by defeating Clemson 45-40. The first scoring started with an Alabama touchdown by Heisman trophy winning running back Derrick Henry on a 50-yard rush. Clemson then retaliated with their own touchdown evening the score with a Deshaun Watson touchdown pass to Hunter Renfrow. After and unsuccessful Alabama possession, Clemson took the lead, 14-7, on another touchdown pass from the same combination of Watson to Renfrow. In the second quarter Alabama tied the score at 14-14 to end the half. In the second half, it was more of the same back and forth between the two offenses with touchdowns and field goals. The Tide took the lead to start the quarter, 21-14. The Tigers, trying to chip away at the lead, settled for a field goal putting the score at 21-17. To end the third, the Tigers’ running back Wayne Gallman ran for a 1 yard score putting Clemson in front heading into the fourth. The bulk of the scoring in this game occurred in the fourth quarter. Alabama tied the game 24-24 to start off of a Adam Griffith field goal. After stopping Clemson’s powerful offense, Alabama put up seven more points giving them a 31-24 lead. Padding their lead, the Crimson Tide pushed the ball over the goal line giving them a 38-27 advantage. Alabama put the game away with 1 minute left on a Derrick Henry touchdown making the score 45-33. Clemson, never giving up, scored a late game touchdown to bring the final to 45-40. Alabama’s defense held strong despite Clemson’s Deshaun Watson throwing for 405 and four touchdowns. The dynasty of Alabama college football continues and so does coach Nick Saban’s success. Saban is a great coach and well-prepared Alabama for the championship. It was truly exciting and Alabama came out with the victory and the Championship trophy.
