Fallout 4 Review
January 25, 2016
On November 4th, 2015, Bethesda Gaming Studios released the next edition of the Fallout gaming series- Fallout 4, to gamers worldwide. When you load the Fallout 4 disc into your gaming system, you are transported 250 years forwards in time to a version of Boston (and the surrounding area) that seems to be stuck in the 1950’s due to the fallout from a nuclear attack that occurred at that time.
This edition to the Fallout series has a fantastic storyline with interesting and dynamic characters that offers 4 different endings, one for each of the major factions in the game – the Institute, the Brotherhood of Steel, the Railroad, and the Minutemen. All of the endings leads to the destruction of one or two of the other factions, so it is important to choose wisely when choosing which faction to side with, as that will affect your game experience. Another major plus for this game is the massively dense and active open world. Wherever you go in the world, there is something there for you to do or something waiting to attack you. There are rundown urban areas, like Boston or Lexington, and also barren wasteland, like most of the map that is not an urban area. Fallout 4 also offers a vast crafting system. You can use any junk (such as a circuit board or a teddy bear) you may find on your journeys, to build settlements, upgrade your gear, or upgrade your weapons.
The only negative, and it is a minor one, is the occasional bug or lag. That can be somewhat expected with a game of the magnitude of this one. Fallout 4 is definitely in my personal top 3 or 4 favorite open world games ever, and I cannot wait for what the Fallout franchise has in store in the future.
