After a 21-7 finish to last year’s season, the Marlboro High School’s girls basketball team is looking to have the same success this season. As it currently stands, the Girls are 7-5 this season and showing improvement on the court. Lead by leading scorer Tatum Evans, averaging eleven points a game, the Mustangs are a well-rounded team and are expected to do well. Coach Hagensen’s expectations are “to become the best team we can possibly be” which has been evident in each game.  Coach Hagensen also believes that being a “role model” and “showing great character on and off the court” is a huge part of the growth and development of the team as a whole. The girls and coaching staff show great confidence in their play and their philosophy of the game.

In addition to the great play of Evans, Sophomore Jessica Broad leads the team in total points scored and rebounding. Every member of the team has contributed in some way this season to the team’s overall success. The team’s goal every season is to reach their highest potential and compete for the state championship. Coach Hagensen instills “effort and attitude” as a means of motivation and those are his expectations for the team. The Lady Mustangs compete and develop everyday to become a better team as a whole. The girls hope to repeat their success after last season’s victory in the Central Jersey Group IV State Championship. The potential is certainly there for the girls to succeed and make another run in the playoffs.Good luck Girls on the rest of your season!
