MHS Gymnastics Season Wrap Up

Megan Geller

The Marlboro High School Gymnastics team has just wrapped up one of its best season’s yet! With a final a record of 12-1, there is no doubt that all of the hard work and dedication of these girls has paid off.

Under the direction of coaches Mrs. Pierson and Mrs. Fontanilla and captains Carli Block and Sam Geris, there was no doubt that these 13 girls were going to be victorious. In fact, with a record of 110.075 they were able to smash the old MHS record of 109.075, making them the team to beat in future seasons. Last but not least, team member and sophomore, Melissa Astarita, became a New Jersey state champion.

The team has four graduating seniors this year: Carli Block, Sam Geris, Victoria Varile and Alicia Zhou. Although they are sad to see these teammates go, the team knows that they will go on to do amazing things in college.

Overall, this truly has been a remarkable season for the MHS girl’s gymnastics team. Nice work ladies!
