Evan Choy is a prominent senior in not only Marlboro High School, but outside of the classroom. Over his past four years in high school, Evan has participated in numerous clubs, competed in two varsity sports, and managed to maintain good grades along with his busy schedule. Evan has proven both in and outside of Marlboro High School that he can excel in anything he does.

Primarily, Evan is a member of Asian Club, DECA, the Ashley Lauren Foundation, FBLA, Marching Band, Pit Orchestra, and the Jazz Ensemble. Not only is he a member in these clubs, he also has leadership positions in them as well. He is the President of the Asian Club, President of DECA, and the Treasurer of ALFC. Moreover, he is the Brass Section Leader of the Marching Band. While he is a member of numerous clubs, Evan still puts all of his effort into each one. In DECA, (a club ( a club that prepares future leaders for careers in business, finance and marketing) , he competes in numerous DECA conferences, even traveling to New York City to participate in them. In the Ashley Lauren Foundation, a club that helps raise awareness of childhood cancer, and raise funds for children overcoming cancer, Evan participates in car washes, bake sales, and school events, such as the Sadie Hawkins dance.

In the winter season, before and after school, Evan is dedicated to the MHS Varsity swim team. Evan wakes up every morning for a 5 AM practice before school, and after school, competes in swim meets. In spring, Evan competes for the MHS Varsity golf team, where he stays after school to practice with his team members.

Outside of school, Evan is a member of the Impulse Handbell Ensemble. He also teachers Martial Arts and studies Chinese Lion Dancing. Chinese Lion Dance is a traditional Chinese custom in which performers mimic a lion in a lion costume, which can fit numerous performers. Also notably, Evan Choy has become the youngest person ever to receive certification to teach Moo Duk Kwan, which is a form of martial arts.

However, as Evan Choy prepares to move on from Marlboro High School, he will not forget the amazing times and memories he has had there. Overall, his favorite part of Marlboro High School was the “great music program, and the diversity in the student population and interests”. After high school, Evan plans to graduate with a finance/accounting degree, and become a certified CPA. Before Evan leaves MHS in June, he advises any underclassmen that in order “To make your time here as best as it can be, YOU Have to take the initiative to shape it to your interests. Be yourself and do something you love”.

MHS wishes Evan Choy luck as he heads towards college next fall, but there is no doubt that wherever Evan goes, he will succeed.
