Bliss and Temptation

Danielle Wallman, Grade 11

BLISS

I have found a bliss,

A bliss just for me.

I am surrounded by ocean waves, rocks,

palm trees, and the breeze.

I am here, however, alone,

A party of one,

My bliss is found deep down inside me with

The rays of the sun.

I cannot feel bliss unless blissfully alone,

Togetherness is not something I condone.

People make problems with their selfish

Opinions and thoughts.

Their politics and racism,

Anything goes as long as you don’t get

Caught.

Alone is serenity,

On a beach full of rocks and waves, palm

Trees, and days,

Days where all there is to worry about are the

Thoughts in my own mad mind,

Not the thoughts of others,

That have corrupted man kind.

TEMPTATION

It stares you down until you give in.

Waiting patiently for your inevitable human

sin.

An angel in the left ear,

A devil in the right,

A constant internal struggle, and fight.

To do what is right,

Or to do what we want,

It is in our nature to do what we should not.

Sinners obligation,

They call it,

To choose the wrong path,

We do not think of consequences or wrath.

Mistakes are common,

in our DNA,

Life’s temptations will always befool us,

To our dismay.

With age comes wisdom, this old saying is

true,

However we are all born wired one way,

That does not budge,

And does not sway.

Humans are not intended

To choose right over wrong.
Because most of life’s beauties were not

planned all along.

But mistakes, you could call them,

Or humans giving into sin.

Or you could choose to call them as they

Are,

What makes humans what they have always

Been.

Wild and unpredictable,

Unable to be contained,

And contrary to what people want, more

Than slightly insane.

But that’s the beauty in temptation, it makes

Room for the uncanny

The unreal,

And the wonderfully tragic mistakes,

That make us feel.
