MHS Gymnastics Success

The Marlboro High School gymnastics team has had an amazing season so far and is continuing to make strides as a team.  They have been victorious numerous times this season, attributing to their 11-1 record.

The dedicated coaches of the MHS gymnastics team are Mrs. Pierson and Mrs. Fontanilla.  This year’s captains are seniors Carli Block and Sam Geris, who have both led the team to an extremely successful and unforgettable season. Block, on the team for four years, loves being a part of the MHS gymnastics team.  She said,

“I love my team, the sport, and the experience. I love representing our school doing something that I have dedicated my entire life to.”

— Carli Block

This year is very special for the Mustang girls!  They have broken the Marlboro High School all time record of 109.075 with a smashing new record 110.075 points.  This takes true dedication and the girls have brought that along with passion to every single meet.  Additionally, Melissa Astaria has tied and broken her own personal records that had been set at an all time high during the last season. Great job ladies!

The girls practice very often to ensure that they are completely ready when the meet days come.  They practice every day after school from 3:25 until 5PM as they stretch, go through all of their routines, and condition.

On the day of the meet they compete in vault, floor exercise, uneven bars, and balance beam against other teams before their scores are added up to determine the winner.

Overall, this season has been extremely successful for the MHS gymnastics team! With broken records and a 11-1 record this season, there is no doubt that these ladies can finish off the season extremely strong.  Keep up the hard work and passion and congratulations on your amazing season girls!
