Just Keep Swimming

Elizabeth Saada

Just keep swimming

That’s what people always say

I made it to highschool, they tell me

Just keep swimming

Work is getting harder, they tell me

Just keep swimming

Homework each night piling up to the ceiling

I barely sleep, they tell me

Just keep swimming

Everybody’s different

Nobody sees me, still they tell me

Just keep swimming

I try to find peace but the storm keeps coming, they tell me

Just keep swimming

But happens when when I can’t swim anymore

The walls become so high that I can’t get around them

I try to yell but the black muddy water rises over my head

The walls start closing in

But all they do is tell me

Just keep swimming
