Super Bowl LV was set up to be a good one with Tom Brady and the Buccaneers facing off against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, who were playing for their second straight championship. The Bucs entered the game on a 7 game win streak, with their last loss coming on November 29th to the Chiefs. On the other side, the Chiefs were the number one seed in the AFC and were 14-1 on the season when Mahomes was their starting quarterback.

The Chiefs were 3 point favorites heading into the game and scored the first points with a field goal in the first quarter. After picking up this 3-0 lead, the game belonged entirely to Tampa Bay. Tom Brady’s offensive line was superb, providing plenty of time for the future Hall of Famer to find his teammates down the field. Brady connected with Rob Gronkowski in the endzone twice in the first half to score the game’s first two touchdowns. Antonio Brown was able to finish off the first half with a touchdown of his own. These three touchdowns in the first half proved to be too much for the Chiefs.

The biggest surprise of the game was the fact that the Chiefs offense was completely shut down. Unlike Brady, Mahomes was under pressure the entire game, scrambling out of the pocket on many plays. Although their offensive line was banged up, you have to give a lot of credit to Todd Bowles and his defense. They held Kansas City to no touchdowns and were crowned champions after the 31-9 win. The 22 point loss marks the only multi-score loss in Mahomes’ young career.

Winning this Super Bowl in his first year out of New England is an incredible feat for Tom Brady. This marks his seventh Super Bowl victory and pushes his overall record to 7-3 in the big game. He earned Super Bowl LV MVP after a great performance, his fifth time ever winning this award. After this win, many NFL fans can agree that he truly is the greatest of all time.
