President Joe Biden’s Inauguration took place on January 20th, 2021. Former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle Obama, attended the Inauguration. Also in attendance were former presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton. Vice-President Mike Pence was also present. However, President Donald Trump was absent, making it the first time in 150 years that the outgoing president did not attend his replacement’s inauguration. Among the more active attendees were Lady Gaga, who sang the National Anthem, and Jennifer Lopez, who sang “This Land is Your Land.” Another artist who performed was Garth Brooks, singing “Amazing Grace.” Finally, poet Amanda Gorman read her uplifting poem titled “The Hill We Climb.” A lot of people say that it captured the moment perfectly. According to the Internet, the most popular attendee was Bernie Sanders, who wore knitted mittens that everyone seemed to love. Even though the event was closed to the public due to Covid-19, the excitement from years past was still the same.

When he was sworn into office as president, Joe Biden used a Bible that has been in his family since the 1800s. He has used the Biden family Bible every time he has been sworn into office, including becoming a senator and vice-president, and this event was no different. As all incoming presidents do, Joe Biden gave his Inaugural Address. He reiterated that he wants to be a president for all Americans, not just the ones who voted for him. President Biden also explained the importance of democracy and how sacred it truly is. He talked about all the challenges America faces and how the only way to get through them is to work together. The country is very divided and Joe Biden said that he would put his “whole soul” into unifying it. Clearly, President Joe Biden has his work cut out for him, but he seems to be up to the challenge.
