The University of Tennessee’s football program has been caught with a recruiting scandal by giving the visiting recruits money in a McDonald’s bag, that way the recruits would commit to play football for the Tennessee volunteers.  However, now other players and coaches probably will not be volunteering to play or coach there anytime soon.  Tennessee had an average program, so many wondered how an average program could get so many great recruits, but it seems that bribery may have been the answer. It was embarrassing enough that the coach got fired, but now that this has happened, Tennessee will likely get a humongous fine for this scandal, and maybe even some recruiting privileges.  It is possible that many other schools and programs are doing this as well, not just Tennessee.  It might be beneficial for college sports to give the players a little bit of benefits in the future to avoid this type of scenario.  If student athletes could at least accept a gift or money from a friend or family member, but not a coach or by the program, it could improve things drastically.  If college sports just did that, then most likely none of these scandals would ever happen again.
