There Must Be Something – A. Ferrise

A. Ferrise

There must be something
Out there in this world for me.
There has to be one bit of it for
Yes, I, the daughter of poverty.

There must be something
Like a yard with a mile-long lake,
A large, marble mansion
With a white kitchen and endless chocolate cake.

There must be something
Such as a dream job being mine.
I’ll be one with the millionaires
And I’ll sip their wine.

There must be something
To end the lack of friends.
Smiles and conversation between me and all,
Till the very end.

There must be something.
Please, God, look back
This lonely girl who needs something
To get her life on track.
