Yesterday was one of the greatest college football games in NCAA history. It was a battle for the ages between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Clemson Tigers. Let’s get the recap under way.

1st Quarter

Bo Scarborough got the game started with a 25-yard touchdown with 9 minutes left in the first quarter. The Tigers then blocked an Alabama punt with 2:39 in the first quarter. Deshaun Watson then fumbled a low snap with 1:52 left to end the first quarter.

2nd Quarter

Bo Scarborough ran for a 37-yard touchdown with 10:53 left in the second. Deshaun Watson threw a screen pass to Deon Cane for a 48-yard gain,

which led to another big pass play from Deshaun Watson to Jordan Leggett. Finally, this set up an 8-yard touchdown run from Deshaun Watson with 6:10 left in the first half. Watson made a couple nice passes to Jordan Leggett and Mike Williams, but at the end of the first half it was Alabama 14 Clemson 7.

3rd Quarter

Early in the third quarter Clemson fumbled the ball on a hard hit by and Alabama defenseman to put the Tide into Great field position. Alabama ultimately hit a field goal to make the score 17-7 Tide. Deshaun Watson came right back and threw a 24 yard slant to Hunter Renfrow for a Clemson touchdown making the score 17-14 Alabama. Then with 2:03 left in the third, Jalen Hurts threw a 68-yard strike to O.J. Howard for a Tide touchdown to increase their lead to 24-14. In the third however, Alabama running back, Bo Scarborough, injured his leg and would not return.

4th Quarter

Early in the fourth, Deshaun Watson threw a 4-yard touchdown to superstar receiver Mike Williams to make it a 24-21 game. Mike Williams then made a spectacular catch with 5:32 left to go in the final quarter. Clemson running back ran for a 1-yard touchdown on that drive to give Clemson a 28-24 lead with 4:42 left to go. Jalen Hurts then converted a 3rd and 16 to a Fourth and 1, which led to a Tide first down. This led to a 30-yard touchdown run by Jalen Hurts to give Alabama the lead of 31-28 with 2:07 left to go. Deshaun Watson went into the 2-minute drill, completing big passes to Mike Williams and Jordan Leggitt. Finally, with 6 seconds left on the clock Deshaun Watson threw a touchdown pass to Hunter Renfrow to seal their National Championship Victory against the Alabama Crimson Tide with a final score of 35-31. Watson finished the game with 420 passing yards, 3 Passing touchdowns, 43 rushing yards, 1 rushing touchdown, and was named the MVP of the game.
