Kaleidoscope Hosts its Annual Open Mic Night

On Wednesday, March 23rd , Kaleidoscope Literary Magazine held its annual Open Mic Night in the cafeteria. Talented students from varying backgrounds united for one night to put on a show exemplifying the creativity of MHS students, and various hidden talents.

Chief Editor Naomi Gibzon hosted the night, with the help from advisor of the club, Mrs. Rivera. Musical performances included talented MHS singers, such as Amanda Conti, singing a variety of original songs, and covers, Alexandra DePalo, performing classic Broadway hits, Sam Joswick singing classical serenades, and Solomon Nachum who performed popular hits. The MHS Theater Society also attended Open Mic Night, giving the audience a sneak peak of their upcoming musical, AIDA. Stars of AIDA, Lara Atry, Brooke Schindleheim, and Corinne Lynch came together to put on the show’s popular hit, “My Strongest Suit”.

Furthermore, talented MHS students recited both classical poetry, and original poetry. Students included Lief Krutko, Brandon Livingston, Samantha Griswold, Cameryn Tepper, Anderson Ng, Trisha Basak, Lily Gilston, MHS Students also read their own original short stories, including Chris Eng, and Amanda Lopez. Finally, juniors Seth Katz, and Josh Levy, under the self-titled name “SNL”, put on a comedy sketch, mocking common teenage dilemmas.

Overall, Kaleidoscope’s Open Mic Night was a success, with teachers, parents, and students providing an excellent turnout. MHS Students once again have proved their unique talents, and emphasized their creativity, and passion for the arts.
