Another season is nearing its end for the boys and girls golf teams. Both the boys and the girls are enjoying eventful seasons. Many seniors are giving it their all in their final season, but plenty of younger golfers are waiting in the wings.

The girls currently sit at a 7-3 record. The team looks poised to finish in a much better position than last year’s 7-9 team. This record is good for ranking the girls 11th out of the 35 contending schools. The team is set up with plenty of young talent for the future. Star golfer Cassandra Yap is the only senior on the team. While the team will be losing her talents next year, the team is well-equipped to sustain this loss. Thus far the team has won some big games, including a 211-183 match against Holmdel. Next year’s team will be anchored by the likes of Lauren Calvaruso, Alisha Patel, Zoe Schoenhaus, Alexa Valinoti, and Lauren Zemanovich. If 2017 is an indicator of the future, then next season will be very exciting for the Lady Mustangs.

The boys golf team is in a similar situation. The team is led by many seniors who have left their mark on the program. Some departing seniors include Rohan Parikh, Brandon Silverstein, Jared Arnold, Richard Jang, Justin Cohen, and Derek Ball. In 2018, Coach Anderson will turn to the younger clubs on the squad. While Jared Arnold admits this past season was “humbling”  and full of “challenges — both personal and as a team” he has a great amount of confidence in his teammates. A lot of retooling will be involved with the loss of so many seniors, but Coach Anderson has plenty of talent amongst his younger golfers. The boys golf team is working to improve and the 2018 season appears to be full of promise.
