Grammy’s Outcome

The Annual Grammy Award introduces some of the best music and artists of the year that recently aired on the CBS network and broadcasted live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The Awards were held on February 12, 2017 and this year marked the 59th Grammy Awards show.

This past Annual Grammy Awards was hosted by comedy show host of “The Late Late Show, James Corden. This is the first time in five years that LL Cool J will not be hosting the show.

Throughout the show there was several performances by celebrities from different genres of music. One of the most popular performance of the night was Bruno Mars’ Prince tribute. Mars sang “Let’s Go Crazy” as a tribute to Prince as he wore Prince’s poofy shirt and suit that Prince wore in Purple Rain. Another, performance that caught viewer’s eyes was Beyoncé who embraced her pregnancy through her performance of her songs “Love Drought” and “Sandcastles”. She embraced the idea of fertility through flowers and veils that were incorporated in her performance making the performance overall a very personal moment for Beyoncé. Other mentionable performances were by singers and bands such as Lady Gaga and Metallica, Ed Sheeran, Pentatonix, Adele, John Legend and Cynthia Erivo, The Weeknd and Daft Punk, and Katy Perry.

Announcing the nominations and categories is another part of the award show. The most surprising winner was in the category for Album of the Year that went to Adele for her album “25”. This came to a shock to viewers as Beyonce’s album “Lemonade” did not win and even Adele spoke against Beyoncé’s loss saying how she should have won. Adele’s point of Beyoncé winning instead of her was that the “Lemonade” album spoke out about the struggles of motherhood and being a wife. Adele further stated that Beyoncé deserved it more than she does through her speech.

Other honorable mentions are for the Best New Artist award that went to Chance the Rapper, Adele’s song “Hello” took home Best Song of the Year and Best Record of the Year, “Hotline Bling” won Best Rap Song of the Year, and “Lemonade” won Best Urban Contemporary Album.

The 2017 Grammy Awards was one to remember with incredible performances and talented nominees and winners of several categories of music. It truly is the biggest night in music.
