On November 23, 2016, Disney’s newest movie, Moana, was released in theaters. The movie centers around a Polynesian-inspired island and the princess of that island, Moana (Auli’i Cravalho). In this mythological story, the demigod, Maui (Dwayne Johnson) stole the heart of Te Fiti, an island and earth god. Because of this, darkness is slowly taking over the world and the powerful demigod, Maui, is nowhere to be found.

At an early age, Moana is chosen by the ocean, but she cannot go out very far because there are rules against it. People are not allowed past the reef because the volatile waves are too harsh. However, ultimately Moana understands her destiny and embarks on a journey to find Maui and restore the heart of Te Fiti.
